Until recently, this type of balalaika had spread only among village musicians and was made exclusively in self-made versions. The main differences of this model consist in compactness of the sizes, light weight of the instrument and special flat-bottomed body type. Thanks to these qualities, the balalaika is convenient for outdoor activities, travel, as well as the initial music activities with children. The new Balalaiker Festival was developed in collaboration with the Balalaika Museum (Ulyanovsk) and the Samara Center for Russian Traditional Culture (Samara). Thanks to common efforts, a convenient and effective type of balalaika was returned to the general public.
